Usage Policy

1. The golden rule: only recreate people you have the right to recreate

You may create a persona of (a) yourself, (b) a living person who has given you clear permission, or (c) a deceased person you have the legal right to preserve. You may not create a persona of anyone else. The rights in a deceased person's voice and likeness may belong to their family, estate, or successors, and those rights vary by state — if you are not sure you hold them, do not proceed.

2. Personas are AI, and you must not present them as real

A Legado persona is an AI recreation, not the real person. You may not use a persona, or content it produces, to deceive anyone into believing they are communicating with the real living or deceased person, or with a human at all.

3. Prohibited uses

You may not use Legado, or content generated by Legado, to:

Impersonate for fraud or gain — obtain money, credentials, benefits, or anything of value by making anyone believe a persona is the real person; commit identity theft; or authorize transactions in someone's name.

Harass or harm — threaten, harass, bully, stalk, defame, degrade, or intimidate any person, living or deceased, or their family.

Recreate someone without authorization — create or share a persona of a living person without their permission or of a deceased person without the legal right to do so.

Target minors — create a persona of a person under 18, direct the Service to a person under 18, or attempt to have a person under 18 record or interact with a persona.

Generate harmful content — produce sexual content, especially anything sexualizing minors; content that promotes self-harm or suicide; violent, hateful, or harassing content; or content that facilitates illegal activity.

Violate rights — infringe anyone's privacy, publicity, biometric, copyright, or other rights, including by uploading someone else's recordings or photos without permission.

Misuse voice cloning — use a cloned voice to make it appear a person said something they did not say, for deception, political manipulation, or any of the above.

Attack the Service — scrape, reverse-engineer, overload, or circumvent security or access controls, or access personas you were not authorized to access.

4. If you encounter crisis or self-harm content

Legado is not a crisis service. If a conversation suggests someone may be at risk of harming themselves or others, stop and seek help immediately: in the U.S., call or text 988 (Suicide and Crisis Lifeline) or call 911. We maintain a protocol to surface crisis-line information when our systems detect discussion of self-harm; this is not a substitute for professional help.

5. Reporting

Report misuse, a persona you believe was created without authorization, or a rights or privacy concern to legal@heylegado.com. If you are a person who has been recreated without your permission, contact us and we will act on valid requests to remove the persona.

6. Enforcement

We may remove content, disable a persona or share link, and suspend or terminate accounts that violate this Policy, and we may report unlawful activity to authorities.
